  • 4 slices smoked pork bacon or ham hocks Adds depth of flavor.

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar Adds a touch of acidity.

Method

Cooking

  • In a large pot, cook the smoked pork bacon or ham hocks over medium heat until slightly crispy.
  • Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Add the collard greens and cook until tender, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Stir in the apple cider vinegar, and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Serve hot.

Notes
