Ingredients

  • 4 cups (960 ml) apple cider, unfiltered
  • 2 cups (480 ml) 100% cranberry juice, unsweetened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange juice
  • 2–3 Tbsp maple syrup, to taste
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3–4 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 1 honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, half sliced and half juiced
  • ½ cup fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup pomegranate arils (optional)
  • 3–4 cups (720–960 ml) sparkling water or ginger ale, cold
  • ice, for serving

Method

  • In a large pitcher or drink dispenser, combine apple cider, cranberry juice, orange juice, maple syrup, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  • Add sliced apple, pear, and orange. Cover and refrigerate 1–24 hours to infuse flavors.
  • Just before serving, pour in sparkling water or ginger ale and stir gently to mix.
  • Add cranberries and pomegranate arils. Serve over ice in glasses or mugs.
  • Warm option: Strain out fruit, then heat the punch base gently on low until steaming (about 10 minutes). Ladle into mugs and dilute with hot water to taste.

Notes

Less sweet: Use sparkling water and let guests sweeten to taste with maple syrup.
