Ingredients
For the beef filling

- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas Can substitute with fresh peas.
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme Fresh herbs can be used for better flavor.
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the topping
- 4 cups mashed potatoes Use leftover or store-bought mashed potatoes for convenience.
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional) Cheddar cheese works well on top.
Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the onion, carrots, and garlic, cooking until they soften.
- Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, peas, salt, and pepper.
Assembly
- In a baking dish, layer the beef mixture and top it with the mashed potatoes.
- Optional: Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
