- 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with turkey or pork.
- 1 can diced tomatoes Fresh tomatoes can be used instead.
- 1 can kidney beans Drained thoroughly to lower carb count.
- 1 can black beans Drained thoroughly to lower carb count.
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder Add more for a spicier chili.
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
- 1 cup beef broth
Method
Preparation
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
- In the crock pot, combine the browned beef, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir everything together.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve hot, garnished with your favorite toppings.
