Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1 packet French onion soup mix (about 28g)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheese (American, cheddar, or Swiss)
- 1 tomato, sliced (optional)
- 1 red onion, sliced (optional)
- 4 leaves lettuce (optional)

Method
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, French onion soup mix, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Mix until just combined — don’t overwork it.
- Divide mixture into 4 equal parts and shape into burger patties.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and browned.
- In the last minute of cooking, place cheese slices on top to melt.
- Toast the buns if desired, then assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, and onion slices.
- Serve hot with your favorite side dishes.

Notes
Use lean ground beef for a less greasy burger. For added richness, mix in a tablespoon of mayonnaise or Worcestershire sauce. These also bake well in the oven if you don't want to grill.
