Ingredients

Cookie Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, browned Browned carefully for rich flavor
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves).
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

Glaze Preparation

  • While the cookies cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and allow it to set before serving.
