Ingredients

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1 cup dried cranberries Fresh cranberries can be too tart and watery.
  • 1 cup orange zest For extra flavor, use fresh orange zest.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  • Fold in the cranberries, orange zest, and nuts if using.
  • Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes
