Ingredients
For the dough
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast Check expiration date for effectiveness.
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm milk Around 110°F (43°C).
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For mixing in
- 1/2 cup dried fruit (e.g., raisins, cranberries)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts, pecans)
Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract into the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and fold in dried fruit and nuts.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.

Notes
