Ingredients

For the crust

  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 9 whole crackers)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

For the filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 container Cool Whip, 8 ounces

For the topping

  • 1 can cherry pie filling, 21 ounces

Method

Preparation

  • In a bowl, melt the unsalted butter.
  • Add the graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar to the melted butter. Mix well until the crumbs are evenly coated.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish to form the crust.

Make the Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Gently fold in the Cool Whip until the mixture is fluffy.

Assemble the Dessert

  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust.
  • Top it with the cherry pie filling, spreading it out evenly.

Chill

  • Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results, before serving.
