Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold) Must be cold for flaky layers.
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Method

Preparation and Dough Formation

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, milk, sugar, salt, and yeast until a dough forms. Knead until smooth.
  • Roll the dough into a rectangle, and place cold butter in the center.
  • Fold the dough over the butter and roll it out again.
  • Fold the dough into thirds and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
  • Once completed, roll the dough out one final time and cut into triangles.
  • Roll the triangles from the wide end to the point and shape them into crescents.
  • Place on a baking sheet and let rise until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush with egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes
