Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined. If desired, fold in the dark chocolate chips.
  • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centers are slightly soft.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
