Ingredients

Meat & Sauces

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

Vegetables & Seasonings

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Pasta & Cheese

  • 1 package (16 oz) penne pasta, cooked
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables soften.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Combine the cooked penne pasta with the meat sauce in a large mixing bowl.
  • Transfer half of the pasta mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the pasta.
  • Add the remaining pasta mixture and top it with the rest of the cheeses.
  • Finally, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes
