Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 500 g bread flour
  • 100 g cocoa powder
  • 80 g sugar
  • 10 g sea salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 300 g sourdough starter Ensure it is active and bubbly.
  • 350 ml warm water

Additions

  • 150 g chocolate chips Adjust according to taste.

Method

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the bread flour, cocoa powder, and sugar together.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the sourdough starter and warm water, then add this mixture to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix everything until a dough forms. Add the sea salt and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Raising and Baking

  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours or until it has doubled in size.
  • Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  • Allow it to rise again for 1-2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
  • Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Let it cool before slicing.
