Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup melted butter Make sure it's melted but not too hot.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar You can substitute brown sugar for half.
  • 1 count egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • to taste drops green food coloring Use gel food coloring for a vibrant color.

Toppings

  • as needed sprinkles red sprinkles Add a single sprinkle to each cookie.

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients, adding green food coloring while mixing until you reach your desired color.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Add a single red sprinkle to each cookie to represent the Grinch's heart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven or until they are golden.
  • Let cool on wire racks.
