Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a jelly roll pan.
  • In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the bowl and gently fold to combine.
  • Add milk and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cake springs back to the touch.
  • Let it cool slightly, then invert onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.

Rolling and Filling

  • Roll the cake in the towel and let it cool completely.
  • Unroll the cake, spread whipped cream or frosting, and roll it back up.
  • Shape the roll into a heart shape if desired and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes
