  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Gradually add about one cup at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (or any other flavor if you prefer) Experiment with different extracts for unique flavors.
  • a few drops food coloring (optional) Use to customize colors.
  • to taste granulated sugar for rolling (optional) Gives mints a lovely shine.

Method

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and peppermint extract together until smooth.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, about one cup at a time, mixing until fully incorporated. The mixture will be thick.
  • If you want to add color, divide the mixture into different bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each. Mix until you achieve your desired color.
  • Scoop out small amounts of the mixture and roll them into tiny balls or shape them into little mints or hearts.
  • If desired, roll the mints in granulated sugar to give them a lovely shine.
  • Place the mints on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes
