Method

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
  • Add the vegetable oil or melted butter and blend it with your fingers until crumbly.
  • Slowly pour in the warm water, mixing until the dough forms a ball.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

Cooking

  • On a floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin circle.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook each tortilla for about 30-60 seconds on each side until lightly browned.
  • Keep the cooked tortillas warm in a clean kitchen towel.
