  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup melted butter

For Glazing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: acorn flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: milk, honey, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Combine the wet and dry mixtures gently, mixing until just combined.
  • Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a pot to 350°F.
  • Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and fry them in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drain them on paper towels and glaze immediately with powdered sugar mixed with a bit of water.
  • Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container, wrapping in foil if desired.
