- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter (active and bubbly) Ensure the sourdough starter is active before use.
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 amount needed Flour for dusting Use as needed during kneading and shaping.
Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
- Add the sourdough starter and warm water into the bowl, and combine until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for about 4 to 6 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Shaping and Scoring
- Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface.
- Shape your dough into a round or loaf, depending on your preference.
- Take a knife or a razor blade to score designs into the top of your dough.
- Let it rise again for an hour.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a baking stone or sheet inside.
- Once preheated, carefully transfer the dough to the hot stone or sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
