Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter and warm water. Stir in the sugar, then gradually mix in the flour and salt.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball.
  • Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let them cool slightly, then carefully cut off the tops and hollow out the inside to create bowls for your soup.
