Ingredients

Cracker Base

  • 1 cup sourdough starter Ensure it's active for best flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Whole wheat flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Experiment with different cheeses if desired.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust based on preference.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Can be omitted if desired.
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder Can be omitted if desired.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Keep warm, melted butter helps combine ingredients.

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Add the melted butter and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little water.
  • Roll the dough out on a floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Cut into squares or desired shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  • Allow to cool before serving.
