  • 1 pound ground beef or substitute with ground turkey for a healthier option
  • 1 cup onion, chopped adds flavor and sweetness
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots the star of the casserole
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup can use low-fat version for a lighter dish
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or substitute with your favorite cheese
  • 1 cup milk helps create a creamy texture

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef with cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with frozen tater tots in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.
