Ingredients

For the Pasta

  • 12 pieces manicotti pasta shells

For the Cheese Filling

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For Assembly

  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup additional mozzarella cheese for topping

Method

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the manicotti shells according to package instructions, then drain and cool.
  • In a bowl, mix together ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Stuff the manicotti shells with the cheese mixture.

Assembly

  • Spread a layer of spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Place the stuffed manicotti on top of the sauce, and cover with remaining sauce.
  • Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly, then serve.
