  • 2 pounds beef stew meat Tough cuts work best for pressure cooking.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth Low sodium recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce For marinating, optional.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Optional, for thickening.
  • as needed Mashed potatoes For serving.

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  • Turn on the Instant Pot and select the 'Sauté' mode. Add a little oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  • Add the beef stew meat to the pot and brown on all sides.
  • Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on 'Manual' high pressure for 35 minutes.
  • After cooking, allow natural release for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure.
  • If desired, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the pot for a thicker gravy.

Serving

  • Serve Instant Pot Beef Tips hot over a generous scoop of mashed potatoes.
  • You can also add a side of steamed vegetables, such as green beans or carrots.
