Ingredients
For the Marinade
- 1.5 lbs flank steak A lean cut recommended for this recipe.
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
Method
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, black pepper, and rosemary.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it.
- Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours for best flavor).
Cooking
- Preheat your grill or broiler to medium-high heat.
- Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the excess marinade.
- Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side or until desired doneness is achieved (medium-rare is recommended).
- Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
Serving
- Serve the flank steak sliced against the grain for the best texture. It pairs wonderfully with grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
